Slide WORLD EXPO MILAN

How do we feed the world without further harming the earth? And what solutions do we come up with in the Netherlands for the food production of the future?

'Share, grow, live' is the theme of the World Expo Milan 2015. For the Holland Pavilion I photograph farmers who come up with smart, circular or technological solutions for more sustainable food production. From super practical – an asparagus picking machine made from a Suzuki Alto – to quite advanced – the use of drones to monitor the status of potato fields.

I followed twelve innovative farmers and agricultural companies in the Netherlands. Such as a city beekeeper, an oyster mushroom farm and a seed breeding company. I made a series of each of them.

A selection of each series was on display in the Dutch pavilion. The pavilion attracted 20,000 visitors a day. The full series and the stories behind it were published on the World Expo website.
